She was born January 8, 1937 in Point Peter, Georgia to the late Reese and Myrtle Simmons. She moved to Charlotte as a young child and grew up in the Coulwood neighborhood. After graduating from West Mecklenburg High School, she embarked on a career at First Union National Bank that spanned over 40 years.
Jane was a loving, dependable, honest, and compassionate person who loved her family, her church and her community. After marrying Tommie Kiser in 1961, she spent her love and energy raising her children and grandchildren (whom she loved almost as much as chocolate and Elvis!). When she wasn’t with her family, you could find her attending an Amity Presbyterian Church committee meeting, delivering meals on wheels, delivering friendship trays, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, serving meals at the homeless shelter or playing bridge with her dear friends. Jane will be truly missed.
Jane is survived by her husband, Tommie Kiser, children Keith (Susan) Kiser and Kelly (Tommy) Hughes; grandchildren, Kellen (Kelsey) Hughes, Kendall Hughes and Amber Hughes: step grandchildren, Elliot and Patrick Mersch; brother Rob (Kay) Simmons; brother/sister in law, Bill and Carolyn Galloway, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectively requests that donations be made to The Sandbox (an organization that is dedicated to helping children with special needs).
A memorial graveside service will be held on Friday, October 30th, 2020 at 1:30pm at Forest Lawn West Cemetery 4601 Freedom Drive Charlotte, NC 28206.
