Born September 13, 1919 in Scotland County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Lee Moss and Lula Jane Henderson Moss.
Mrs. Boyd was a resident of Huntsville, AL for fifty years before returning to Charlotte in 2013. A member of Lakewood United Methodist Church and Grove View Acres Garden Club in Huntsville, she enjoyed sewing, working with crafts, cooking, and gardening as well as teaching and playing the piano and socializing with friends and neighbors. She was a master seamstress and had an active crafts/alterations business late into her nineties.
She is survived by two children, Benjamin Neil Boyd (Sally Cruz Boyd) and Phyllis Boyd Cutrell (Andrew C. Cutrell); grandchildren, Chadwell Lee Champion, Christopher Caddell Champion, Johnathon Casey McPeters, and Michael Trevan McPeters; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Chase Champion, Abigayle Cate Champion, Cayden Caddell Champion; and two sisters, Sue Moss Gamble and Alice Moss Foreman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death in 1978 by her husband, Philip Caddell Boyd.
A service to celebrate Mrs. Boyd’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19th in the chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. A committal service will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville.
