He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Webster Steele, and his mother, Mary Anne Steele Fulmer Rhodes. He remains loved by his surviving siblings, Donald Steele Jr., and sisters, Deborah Anne Steele Dralle and Mary Catherine Steele Morris.
In his youth, Gary left his home of Fairfax, Virginia, to make it on his own. Gary was an adventurous young man who enjoyed riding horses and bulls. Gary and Charlot met in Phoenix, Arizona, and were married a short time later. Gary was a serial entrepreneur owning a strip-mining company in Kentucky, a waste management company in Virginia, and ultimately founding Advanced Residuals Management, an ongoing concern now owned and run by his son Brandt. Gary and Charlot considered home Sunset Beach, North Carolina, where they built a strong network of friends and a passion for their local church.
If you had the pleasure of encountering Gary (Pop or Daddy), you wouldn’t walk away without hearing what Jesus had done in his life. Gary loved all of God’s creation but had a special place in his heart for boating and fishing. Gary never missed a chance to share the gospel with his children, grandchildren, and anyone he met. Pop will be missed greatly, but his family is comforted and excited to know that he has arrived safely in the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
