Mr. James Jay Moody Martin

Mr. Martin was a Veteran of World War II, honorably serving in the US Navy. He was employed at Sears Roebuck for 30 Plus Years. During his retirement, he enjoyed working on cars, gardening, which carried over from growing up on his family’s farm in Alexander County. He also spent his time completing building projects, enjoying his family and fishing. Mr. Martin loved volunteering at Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church where he was a member.

Mr. Martin was predeceased by his wife, Maye Howey Martin and their daughter. He is survived by a sister, Wilma Martin Lackey of Statesville, NC; brother Nuel Kester Martin of Stony Point, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate Mr. Martin’s life will be conducted on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3413 Mount Holly Huntersville Rd. Charlotte NC, 28216 at 2:00pm with visitation from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Burial will be at Faith Presbyterian Church, 7520 Charlotte HWY, Fort Mill, SC 29707.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Samaritan’s Purse, 4625 Piedmont Row Dr. Charlotte, NC 28210.
