James Donald Ingold, 90, of Charlotte died on June 29, 2024, at his home in the Aldersgate community. Jim was born on May 12, 1934, in Mt. Gilead, NC to the late John Lyman Ingold and Grace Deaton Ingold. He grew up on a family farm and learned the value of hard work at an early age.
Jim was a member of the Class of 1952 at Mt. Gilead High School. Afterward, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served from 1953-57 and was a Plank Owner (original crew member) of the U.S.S. Saratoga. He married Drusilla Stoker Ingold on November 23, 1957, and they moved to Charlotte where they have lived ever since.
He had jobs at several places before going to work in the sales of packaging systems for John Edwards Company where he was employed for many years before retiring as a Vice-President and Sales Manager in 2001.
Jim was a member of Matthews Presbyterian Church and served in the past as a Deacon, Elder, and Trustee in Presbyterian churches. He loved being outside when he could and enjoyed fewer things in life more than spending time in his garden and sharing its bounty with family and friends.
