James Michael Hinson

He has been reunited in Heaven with his grandfather, Gene Lowe; his aunt, Coby Beebe; and his best friends, Brett Biggers and Bubba Bumgarner.

Michael was born on August 7th, 1990 in Charlotte.

An outdoors-loving, country boy by nature, Michael’s Mom, Laurie, taught him how to swim at a young age, and from then on, he was just like a fish in the water. Michael’s dad, Joe, taught him how to ride horses and he grew up riding them often (he made standing on the back of them look easy!). His dad also coached him in baseball and basketball for many years, both of which he was very good at.

Michael attended Hopewell High School in Huntersville, and in his young adulthood, he went to work for his Dad, Joe, at his company, Beebe’s Quality Contracting Inc. Getting to work together was a dream for both Michael and Joe, and after starting out as a general construction worker, James worked his way up to Supervisor.

Having Joe as a father and role model affected Michael more than just professionally; Joe showed Michael what being a great dad looked like, and he carried that with him when he became a dad himself. Michael was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Kylie and Kiara, whom he loved more than life itself.

Loving people hard was just in Michael’s character – it came naturally. He loved his friends so much, of which there were many, and was passionate about maintaining friendships and being a good friend to the people in his life. He loved and adored his large family too, especially the kids, and was blessed with six siblings and a large handful of nieces and nephews. The kids in his family all looked up to him, and it was not uncommon for them to say they wanted to be just like their Uncle Michael.

Michael was a beautiful light in this world, so outgoing, so fun to be around, and always ready for a competition. His competitive nature made him a natural sports fanatic, and a diehard Saints football and Duke basketball fan especially. He caught their games any way he could, whether that was seeing them play in person or watching them on TV. As a Charlotte native, he also rooted for the Panthers, and one of his favorite pastimes was going to Panthers games with his Aunt Brandie and his Grandma Boo.

A loving and kind father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Michael will be missed beyond measure by all those lucky enough to love and be loved by him.

Michael is survived by his beloved daughters, Kylie Hinson and Kiara Hinson; his mom, Laurie Lowe Beebe (Yale Monsein); his dad, William “Joe” Beebe (Bridget Beaty); his grandparents, Betty Lowe, Jacobyna Beebe, Bill Beebe and Nell Beaty; his siblings, Toni Denise Hinson (Clayton Baucom), Laura Beth Lowe (Jeff Farnsworth), Heather Marie Lowe (Jason Lassiter), Lora Susan Beebe (Demare "DJ" Ezell), Donny Rhames (Tonia Fleming), and Nikki Rhames; his aunts and uncles, Jean Lowe Helms (John), Christina Lavender (Jody), Brandie Beebe, Pam Hinson, Karen Hinson, Tom Beaty, Tonya Beaty and Joe Grant; and his nieces and nephews, Noah Smith, Cayden Smith, Jerimiah Smith, Kendall Smith, Morgan Baucom, Logan Lowe, Kinsley Stilwell, Desera Rhames, Krislyn Dickerson, Briella Dickerson, Tashanna Foster-Rhames, Destiny Rhames, Dajah Foster-Rhames, Donny Rhames Jr., Sherijah Foster-Rhames, and Talaiya Rhames; and his cousins, Megan Lavender, Samantha Lavender, Justin Beebe, Jacob Grant, Jarret Grant, and Joseph Grant; as well as countless other treasured relatives and cherished friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5:00pm until 9:00pm on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022 at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, 4601 Freedom Drive in Charlotte.

The funeral service is to be conducted at 10:00am on Thursday, August 11th, 2022 in the Paul Helton Chapel at the funeral home. The burial will follow, via police escort, at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Highway in Mt. Holly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s name to the National Kidney Foundation.
