James Campbell Davidson, Jr. was born on May 6, 1927 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He passed away on November 29, 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
At the age of 17, during World War II, James entered the US Navy for two years. As a member of the "Greatest Generation" he served in the Pacific aboard the USS Keith Loy, DE-APD. He returned home and attended the University of South Carolina.
Jim was a lifelong Presbyterian, and a long time member of of Plaza Presbyterian Church and later a member at Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder.
He spent 36 years with Piedmont Natural Gas Company in Charlotte and Greensboro, retiring as Charlotte District Manager. He was Chairman for the Better Business Bureau and Chairman for the Salvation Army Advisory Board. He also served as President of the Charlotte Kiwanis Club. He belonged to the Charlotte Merchants Association and the Phalanx Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. He was a long time member of Myers Park Country Club.
Jim is survived by his wife Carolyn of 72 years, his son Jim and his daughter Jane Yates, two granddaughters Brittany Y. Campbell (Bruce) and Blair Yates, and his brother Bud Davidson.
