

James Fulton Cray of Charlotte, NC died Saturday, January 28, 2012. He was born in Greensboro, NC on April 18, 1925. He graduated from Curry High School in Greensboro in 1942. He also studied at Guilford College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his college years he spent his summers working as a lifeguard at Myrtle Beach. Jim later served in the U.S. Army as a pilot. After serving, he worked in sales with the Zenith Corporation and Allison Erwin.
Jim enjoyed fishing, camping and boating, and was a member of the Charlotte Power Squadron. After his retirement, he also enjoyed photography and studied at CPCC.
He was an active member of Sardis Presbyterian Church where he served as a scout leader. Jim was a devoted husband and father. He and his wife were married for 61 years.
Jim is survived by his wife Helen; son Patrick; daughter-in-law, Rebecca; and grandchildren, Natalie Cray and Corey Cray. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Harry and Bryant Company. The family will receive friends following the service. A private interment will be held in Greensboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Leukemia Society.
