James C Allison, Jr., 91, of Charlotte, NC, joined his wife of 67 years in heaven on Tuesday, June 14th, 2022. Jim was born on December 8th, 1930 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents Peggy and Cecil, his wife, Pat, and his siblings, Mary Jones and Jack Allison.
He is survived by their three children and five grandchildren, along with his brother Donald. Son, Mark Allison and wife, Jacqueline. Daughter, Suzanne Allison Martinez. Son, Todd Allison and wife, Libby. Grandchildren, Matthew Lemmond, Lauren Allison Martinez, Lindsey, Tanner and Tate Allison.
Pat and Jim fell in love in high school and were later married at Ridgedale United Methodist in Chattanooga. They were married for 67 years, staying devoted to each other until the very end. Pat and Jim were the epitome of “till death do us part” and they are a stellar example of true love for their family. Jim was an avid golfer and fisherman, and he loved being on the beach with his family and cheering on the Braves. He was a running back in college (Go Mocs!), and after college he joined the Army where he also played football and badminton. He was an active member of SouthPark United Methodist Church, formally Sharon, for over 50 years.
Jim was a very kindhearted person with the most infectious sense of humor. He was incredibly selfless and always wanting to help others. This was evident in the way he helped to raise and nurture his granddaughter Lauren and his grandson Matthew. He was a life-long learner, and he loved to sing, especially to Pat. His dancing and singing, wittiness and wisdom, and his presence on this earth will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family is very appreciative of all his neighbors, caretakers, and church family for their support.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research, and to their longtime church, SouthPark UMC.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at SouthPark United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 26th, 2022 at noon. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m.
