He was born on February 10, 1939, in Vale, NC, to the late Evan and Gladys Wright. He Attended Fred T. Ford HS and Howard Business College.
Jack was a devoted husband to Nancy Sparks Wright, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family, including their children: Kelly Long, Keith Wright, and Jackie Amos. He was a proud grandfather to John Long, Beth Wright, Billy Long, Nancy Amos, and Thompson Amos, and a beloved great-grandfather to Luca Long and Rory Long and father in-law to Jeff Long.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Ruby Strawser.
Jack was a hardworking man who worked for over 40 years with Winn-Dixie. Outside of work, he had a deep passion for roses, serving as President of the Charlotte Rose Society, where he cultivated award-winning blooms. He was also known for his love of Duke basketball, fishing, and working outside in the yard. Jack was always ready with a prank or a quick-witted remark, bringing laughter to those around him.
Jack will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his warmth, humor, and devotion to his family and passions.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society or St Jude’s Children's Hospital.
A visitation for Jack will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227 with funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM. Jack will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
