Charlotte - Jack Edmonds Walters of Cramer Mountain Woods Dr., Cramerton, NC, passed away November 4, 2015. He was born April 1, 1931 in Toccoa, GA, son of the late Connie Edmonds Walters and Leonard H. Walters. His formative years were spent in Atlanta and Marietta, GA. He graduated from Marietta High School, Marietta and the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, with a BS degree in industrial engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Naval Air during the Korean War.
Mr. Walters was CEO/President of Jack Walters, Inc., Charlotte, NC, until he retired at 68 after selling to Carolina Power and Light Company, (now known as Progress Energy).
Mr. Walters lived in Charlotte, NC for over thirty years, enjoying civic and business affairs there. He was past President of the North Carolina Mecklenburg Optimist club and ASHRAE. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cramerton, NC and Cramer Mountain Country Club. He belonged to the Dade Lodge No. 14 in Key West, FL, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, and Oasis Temple in Charlotte. He was a member of the Shrine Patrol Unit for several years.
Mr. Walters is survived by his wife, Nancy Bowles Walters. After 63 wonderful years of marriage, he was always her only love and happiness. He is also survived by his son, John Bolden Walters and his wife Danielle Anselment Walters, two grandsons, Bolden Lee Walters and Christopher John Walters, all of Charlotte; two brothers, Fred Walters and Hugh Walters and wife Annette, and sister, Mary Walters Jackson and husband Jerry, all from the Marietta, GA area; and Ruth Walters Burgess and husband David of Canton, GA; sister-in-law, Mary Newberry Bowles of Nashville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ralph Henry Bowles, Jr.
Mr. Walters will be remembered with love and respect for his kindness and generosity. His life was a testament to his abiding faith in Jesus Christ. He was one of God's great ideas. He treasured his family. His grandsons were dear to him.
Funeral Services will be held 2 pm Sunday, November 8, in the Chapel of Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte, with the Reverend David Julen officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 pm prior to the service at Harry & Bryant.
