Irvin William Henderson III was born March 17, 1969 in Philadelphia, PA to Barbara and the late Irvin Henderson. At the age of 3, the family moved from Philadelphia to Lindenwold, NJ. At age 12, family relocated to Lawnside, NJ, where Irvin attended Lawnside Public Schools and Haddon Heights High School.
Growing up in Lawnside, Irvin was very sociable and was able to create a life-long brotherhood with many of his childhood friends. He was known to be a great dancer and enjoyed shopping for the latest kicks and most fashionable clothes. In addition, during his adolescent years Irvin was an outstanding football player, whose friends nick name him “the Jet” due to his quick speed and running back skills. After moving from Lawnside, Irvin resided in nearby towns; such as Lindenwold, Sicklerville, Atlantic City and Camden.
In 1993 Irvin was gifted one of the best things in life, his only daughter Michelle Holmes.
In 2011, Irvin met the love of his life “Ilisa” the two fell in love and later married in 2018.
Irvin accomplished many things in his 54 years of life. In 2015 he was taking online classes at the University of Phoenix and graduated from Allstate Trucking School where he obtained his CDL. Before becoming a truck driver in 2016, Irvin was a man of many jobs; he worked for a variety of warehouses, restaurants and sanitation departments. In 2016, Irvin experienced a minor set-back where he was diagnosed with prostate cancer but with God’s grace, all in the same year was able to beat it and become cancer free. In 2018, Irvin and his wife Ilisa moved to Charlotte North Carolina where he was living a good prosperous life and continued to accomplished many more goals. In December 2022 Irvin purchased his first home and officially became a homeowner. A few months later, Irvin went on to purchase his own commercial truck and became an independent truck driver May 2023.
Those who knew Irvin could tell you how great of a person he was. Although he was quiet and laid back, he still loved to have a great time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing spades, checkers, chess, cracking jokes, watching movies, and even enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles. His hobbies included thrill seeking adventures such as; riding roller coasters, dirt bikes, quads, and jet skiing. Irvin also enjoyed traveling and vacationing outside of the country with his wife and friends. Irvin was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed kicking back on game day to cheer for his beloved Cowboys. Most of all, Irvin was a loyal, caring, and loving man to his wife Ilisa and would not hesitate to give the shirt off his back to family and friends who were in need.
Irvin is predeceased in death by his late father Irvin Henderson II, grandfather Irvin Henderson & Hack Robinson, Grandmother Betty Robinson & Bernice Henderson; Aunts Shirley Robinson and Janette Addo; Uncles James Henderson, Elgin and Ecclesiastes Robinson; Cousins Maurice Robinson, Latasha Johnson-Glass and Arlene Levi.
Leaving to cherish his special memories are his Wife Ilisa Henderson; Mother Barbara Henderson; Daughter Michelle Holmes; Sister Tamika “MiMi” Henderson; Mother & Father In-Law Patti & Joel Wiedermann; Brother and Sister In-law – Josh & Vanessa Wiedermann; Uncles Eddie Robinson & Richard Henderson; Aunts Negolia Bolden, Gloria Johnson, Rose Henderson; Nieces Ciara & Shavonna Henderson and Ella Wiedermann; Nephew Faizon Carter & Meyer “Wolfie” Wiedermann.; Great Nephews Dupree Cheek & Karson Pollitt; Best friends who he called brothers Shawn Anderson (Nicole), Eric “Toot” Cauthorne (Nana), Wallace “Woog” Famer (Veronica) and Shane Blunt (Nateesha) Close cousins; Vanessa “Nessy” Anna, Chelsea, Alexis, Bryan (Courtney) Aaron (Malecka), Nina, Marilynn, Sophia, Jermaine, Joseph, Jeffery, Desi, Nicole and a slew of other family members and friends.
A visitation for Irvin will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM. For those who can't attend the services, live streaming will be available the day of.
