Hugh Weldon Foard, age 76 of Indian Trail, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016. He was a native Charlottean who loved God and his family. He graduated from Harding High School and received his B.A. from UNCC. He was a Product Merchandising Manager for Ford Motor Company and later a Regional Manager for Volvo Cars of North America. He enjoyed singing. He was a Bass-Baritone and was a soloist for approximately 40 different churches in and around Charlotte singing bass solos from Handel’s “Messiah”, Brahms “ Requiem”, and Mendelssohn’s “Elijah”. He also was a soloist for The Oratorio Singers of Charlotte. He sang “Ol’ Man River” over 1,000 times!
Preceded in death by his parents, Elmore Lee and Ethel Naomi Foard; sister, Carol (Norris) Foard Ferreira and husband Jake. Survivors include daughters, Paige Foard Gant and husband Deric and Jill Foard Rossi and husband Greg; grandchildren, Hannah, Faye, Lucas, Noah, and Jude; sisters, Ellen Foard Leitch and Norma Foard Alexander; and brother, Merwin Edsel Foard Sr.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 12:00 Noon for a Memorial Service located at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. A reception and time of fellowship with the family will immediately follow.
