He was born in Houston, Texas on January 28, 1958. He was the son of the late Wiley and Pauline Etheredge of Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Liz Etheredge, son Mark Etheredge (Megan), grandson Caleb of Charlotte, NC, daughter Allison Warren (David) of Lake Wylie, SC, son Benjamin Etheredge, a rising senior at Winthrop University, brother Rex Etheredge of Lubbock, Texas, brother Paul Etheredge (Brooke) two nieces, Keegan Sorenson (Grant) and Lexi Etheredge and niece Addisyn Sackett and nephew Hudson Sackett of Slaton, Texas, brother in law Thomas Green (Traci), nieces Kate and Parker Green of Pawleys Island, SC, his sweet dog Hannah and many great friends.
Howard graduated from Greenville High School in 1976 and received his Bachelor of Science in Building Construction at Clemson University in 1980. He founded Mecklenburg Paint Company in 1989. Over the years, he enjoyed building relationships with many great clients who had become dear friends to him. He established Etheredge Construction from 1999 until 2011. Howard was very focused and determined in business which made for great success and growth in his companies.
Howard had a great passion for the outdoors, including fishing, hunting, golfing, hiking, biking, and snow skiing. Anyone who knew him, knew how much he loved his Clemson Tigers, tailgating and cheering them on in Death Valley Stadium.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11:00am, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 13110 Moss Road, Charlotte, NC with a visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The family will receive friends following the service at a reception at Bailiwyck Clubhouse, 610 Portpatrick Place, Fort Mill, SC 29708 to further celebrate Howard’s life! Lunch and refreshments will be provided by Mecklenburg Paint Company, Inc.
Please honor Howard by wearing his favorite team colors: orange and purple.
