Can't believe it's been 4 years.  Still miss you buddy!

I worked for Howard for 2 years at Mecklenburg Paint Co. He was a great person to work for and treated all of his employee's equally, no matter what your title was. I just happened to come across this through a FB page I was looking at and saw he had "passed away." I am so very sorry to his wife and children for their loss, I know it is still very hard on you all, he was a great person & his personality lit up a room. Prayers and Blessings to the family!

Can't believe it's been 2 years my friend!

I have so many wonderful memories of adventures with Howard. I remember muddy excursions on dirt bikes and 4 wheelers. And yes Allison and Heather got muddy just as much as Jesse and Mark. I don't know who had the most fun, the kids or me and Howard. The trips to Snowshoe skiing were fantastic. Once, we had the entire group of people, which we didn't  know,  at the top of the lift singing happy birthday to Howard as he was getting off the chairlift, only to watch him  fall face forward in the snow laughing and smiling. I think when he heard us from the lift he decided to do a great  dismount, and boy did he ever. It was hilarious. Later, we got on the bus to a different area on the slopes, and instantly the other 20 or so people already there were our friends laughing and smiling with our jokes and stories of the day.  Sheri and Liz  were putting up with two extra "big kids" on these wonderful trips. Our deer hunting trips were always fun. Hunting was good, but the time spent around the campfire at night sharing fun stories and good times is what made it great. Thank you for all the memories and fantastic times Howard. Thank you for sharing your wonderful family with us and allowing your family to be our family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you   Liz, Ben, Mark , Megan, Caleb, Allison and David.  We love you all.

Jim and I wanted to express our condolences to you and your family in the loss of Howard.  He was always so kind to me when we spoke at events.  I remember how proud he was of you when you were recognized for your efforts as a female leader in business.  He loved you all so much!

Howard was one of a kind! I still remember meeting he and Liz for the first time in 2010 when I started in "the industry" here in Charlotte - he was welcoming then and continued to be a sweet friend over the years. I appreciated all they did for the community and admired his dedication and love for people. My favorite memory has to be when we closed down Old Meck Brewery and he started telling some juicy stories that had me rolling......but I'll never tell ;) 
His contagious smile and friendship will be definitely missed. 

I will always remember the epic hunting trips to Walepole Island with Howard.  Good hunting, good eating and good drinking with good friends!  Godspeed Howard, may the season always be open and the ducks always be flying in heaven.   

It was an honor to meet and get to know Howard and Liz in Cancun during cancer treatments.  He was a pleasure to be around and encourager during the difficult times.  You all are in my prayers, may God give you strength and encouragement at this time.

My thoughts are with you Mary, Allison and Mark.  My memories of Howard are from many years ago and what I remember most was his sense of humor.  He also had a smile that lit up the room.  It is horrible that cancer is so common and taking so many loved ones but I am thankful that Howard fought it and did not suffer any longer.  From his posts on facebook I can see that he was at peace with God and surely he is beaming now in Heaven with no pain.

I grew up with Howard in Greenville SC. He was a part of our family for over 45 years. I have admired his determination and professionalism through this journey. 
My whole family loved Howard and we will miss him dearly. 

I had met Howard through the Vanslambrook’s. Howard always had a smile on his face and a pleasant approach to life. He loved his Tigers and as one fellow said he has an excellent seat in the skybox on the fifty yard line. Prayers go out to his family and I know he will be missed.

I have some very fond memories of doing business with you, while you were established as a General Contractor. You were ALWAYS fair with me. I ALWAYS knew where I stood with you. I know you are in heaven, looking down and feeling that you did in fact live a full life, full of meaning and purpose. May God provide solace, strength and peace and understanding to the Family during this very difficult time.

May 28th, 1997, Howard and Liz joined Dale and me on an epic honeymoon with 13 friends and family members in Cozumel Mexico!!!  Such an awesome trip with amazing memories!!!! Night scuba dives, night chess games with Dee, and Ben tucked away snug in Liz's belly!  Great memories!!!  Love you H!!!!

I am truly blessed to have known Howard.  He was a customer, mentor, and friend.  He was a true gentleman that I have a great deal of respect for.  One of my fondest memories we share was a full day of fishing with clients in the marshes and sounds around Fripp Island. He will be missed.  

Howard was a great friend.  I enjoyed playing church softball with him.

Jack an I send our love and heartfelt sympathy to Liz and family. It has been our pleasure to have known and loved Howard through Crystal and Jason friendship of many many years.  He loved Clemson and especially his family. He could light up a room with his smile.Howard will be missed by a host of his friends. Our prayer is for memories to help the healing process for Liz, children and grandchildren. God bless each of you.

Howard was a kind and caring man! 

I will miss talking Clemson football with him, but he now has a great sky box at the 50 yard line!
