Hong spent his early years in his native country, where he graduated from Nguyen Hue High School and then went on to proudly serve South Vietnam as Second Lieutenant in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. Following the fall of Saigon and after seven years as a prisoner of war, Hong and his family immigrated to the United States in 1991 with the assistance of the Humanitarian Operation. Hong settled in Charlotte, NC, which became home to his wife and the families of his four children.
Hong was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and friend - a loyal confidant whose charisma, warmth, positivity, and humor will be sorely missed. May his memory and legacy live in the hearts of the many who were blessed by his joy.
The Nguyen family will receive visitation at McEwen Funeral Home, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC, 28210, from 11am – 3pm and 5:00pm – 8:30pm on Tuesday, November 12. Hong’s earthly remains will be cremated during a private family ceremony on Wednesday, November 13.
