Herb was born on April 14, 1932, to Allen Nathan Dixon, Sr. and Ethel Clara Dixon (Wright) in High Point, NC. After graduating from high school, he went on to serve four years in the United States Navy where he was trained in photography which continued to be a passion his entire life. Herb was a member of MENSA and had a pilot license. He enjoyed traveling and toured many countries. He was a leader in the Boy Scouts of America and earned his Wood Badge, which is an advanced leadership course.
Herb worked for US Motors early in his career and then co-owned and operated Mooresville Industrial Supply, Inc. in Mooresville, NC, for over thirty years until he and his partner retired.
Herb was married to Bobbie Jean Dixon (Price) and they had three children. He was preceded in death by Bobbie. Herb is survived by his daughter Helen Saxon (Matthew), and sons Kelly Dixon and John Dixon, grandchildren, Alexander Dixon and Cara Dixon, all of Charlotte.
Herb was also close to his siblings, Allen Dixon and Bill Dixon, who preceded him in death, and Ila Jean Jackson of Randleman, NC, and Anita Dunlap of Burgaw, NC.
He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road on June 7, 2024. Visitation will begin at 1pm following by Celebration of Life at 2pm. Burial with US Navy Funeral Honors following at Sharon Memorial Park.
