“Amo”
Henry Holer, 59, of Charlotte, NC, entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, June 6, 2010. He was born in Lafayette, IN to Kathryn and the late Henry Holer of Waynesville, NC. After graduating from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1969, he attended the University of Texas at El Paso, the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from Indiana University at Bloomington with a Masters of Science in Biology. He was a pharmaceutical representative for more than 30 years and recently a sales associate with the ABC Board. He was most proud of the time he spent loving his family and friends. Henry had the most gentle and kind spirit and easily brought laughter to all the people around him. He loved golfing, vacationing with his family, watching the Tar Heels, Carolina shag and music. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. The wonderful memories that we have shared with him give us comfort and laughter to last a lifetime.
Henry leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 33 years, Myra Willis Holer; daughters, Mary Elizabeth (Maribeth) Holer and Jacob Isleib of Lake Placid, NY and Melissa Grace Holer and Michael Hummel of Charlotte. Also cherishing his memory are his mother, Kathryn Holer; sisters, Linda Alexander of Waynesville, NC and Lisabeth (Lucy) and husband David Weyls of Noblesville, IN; niece, Alexis Linn and husband Alex and son Will of Fishers, IN; nephew, Zach Weyls and Erika, and son Logan of Noblesville, IN and brother-in-law James (Jimmy) Willis of Mobile, AL. Henry embraced Jimmy and David as brothers. He will also be greatly missed by his extended family members and many friends.
A message from Maribeth and Melissa: “If you had not been the dad you were we would not be the daughters we are and the women we have become. Thank you for our childhood memories of being our personal hair dresser, 'toad in the hole' mornings, moonwalking in the kitchen and most importantly adding laughter to our lives and loving us so much”.
A service to celebrate Henry's life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Harry & Bryant Company. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Henry's honor to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society of Charlotte in honor of his grand-dogs Rosey and Gretta and his three-pound furry friend, Muffin, who was with him till the end.
