Helen Catherine (Kay) Primm, age 92, of Charlotte, NC, died August 17, 2017. Kay, born August 13, 1925, in Los Angeles, CA, was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Alice Maurice. She was raised in Dallas, TX, and attended Temple Junior College before transferring to Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, where she became a lifetime member of Zeta Tau Alpha. Kay transferred to the University of New Mexico, when her family moved to Albuquerque, NM. There, she met her husband, Captain J.R. (Dick) Primm who was an ROTC student at the university. After he was commissioned, they were married and Kay became a navy wife for 27 years. They settled in Charlotte after Dick’s retirement.
Kay had a wonderful sense of love and affection for her family. She was an active member at Sharon United Methodist Church, holding offices as a member of the Covenant Council, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Chairman of the Parsonage Committee. An active United Methodist Woman, she was a member of First Circle and the McWhorter Sunday School Class.
Kay was a loving wife and devoted mother, she is survived by her children Julie Blanton (David), of Charlotte, Camille Primm of San Diego, CA, Mark Primm of Charlotte, and Richard Primm (Robin) of Waxhaw, NC; her grandchildren Katie Conway, Matthew Blanton, Cathryn Francis (John), and Michelle Sanderson (Daniel); seven great-grandchildren and her sister, Jean Aragon of Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; brother, Robert Maurice, and great granddaughter, Grace Sanderson.
A memorial service to celebrate Kay’s life will be held at Sharon United Methodist Church Tuesday, August 22, at 2 PM. The family will receive friends at the church at 1:00 PM before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for Kay may be sent to Sharon United Methodist Church Permanent Endowment Fund at 4411 Sharon Rd., Charlotte, NC, 28211.
