Helen Bowers Baugess

A native of Albemarle, Mrs. Baugess was born to the late Erie Bowers and Myrtle Whitley Bowers on February 18, 1933. She was a teacher at Independence High School from 1971 to 1982 and was also an insurance broker and real estate agent. Mrs. Baugess was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church in Matthews. She was preceded in death by her husband William B. Baugess in 2000.

Mrs. Baugess is survived by her children, Pat Carpenter of Charlotte, Saundra Doane of Charlotte, Jeffrey L. Carpenter of Mint Hill, Cindy Powell of Indian Trail, Dan Baugess of Atlanta, GA; sister, Betty Hartley of Albemarle; brother, Larry Bowers of Albemarle; grandchildren, Kimberly C. Richards, Morgan C. Poplin, Mallory C. Carver, Kendall R. Carpenter, Maxwell S. Karr, Ashley C. Burkhalter, Hannah Yoder, Sarah Yoder and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 1:00p.m., Wednesday, April 5 in the chapel at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte with Pastor Jeff Pinkston officiating. Interment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 11:30a.m. to 1:00p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
