Charlotte – Harvey P. Jeffers (MAI) (SREA), 83, passed away November 28, 2014 at Presbyterian Harris Hospice. He was born July 30, 1931 in Rochester, N.Y. to the late Robert Buck Jeffers and Jessie Mae Kirk Jeffers.
Harvey graduated with a B.A. degree in 1953 from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Penna. Mr. Jeffers served in the U.S. Army, 9th Army Signal Corps–Intelligence Division, in the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany.
Mr. Jeffers was a commercial real estate appraiser. He was president of Midland Appraisal Associates in Rochester, N.Y.; senior vice-president and chief appraiser at Landauer Associates in New York, N.Y.; a member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI); a member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers (SREA); and a former member of the Counselors of Real Estate (CRE). Harvey was fond of saying that he had appraised a catfish farm in Edenton, N.C. to the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in N.Y.
Mr. Jeffers was a member of the Appraisal Institute National Faculty from 1972 – 1996. In 1968, he authored “Present Worth Factors for Monthly Payments in Advance and Reversionary Interest.”
Harvey is survived by his wife, Louise Stollman Jeffers; his twin daughters, Karen Jeffers Gatz and Sharon Jeffers Steiner; his sons, Harvey Jeffers, Wayne Jeffers and Scott Jeffers; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10th at Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be private at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill, S.C.
