Charlotte - Harry W. Day, Jr. passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at his home after a long illness. Mr. Day was born May 1, 1927 in Washington, D.C. to Harry and Mary Elizabeth Day. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and attended the University of Maryland.
Mr. Day was associated with the C.W. Kirkland Plastering Co. for 48 years, and retired as president in 1995. After he retired, he spent many happy days at his cabin at Lake Wateree near Winnsboro, S.C. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting friends there. He and Mildred enjoyed working in the yard, sitting on the back porch, and spending an occasional night there.
Mr. Day is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Kirkland Day; son, Harry Walter Day, III and his wife Mary; and granddaughter, Melanie Katharine Day.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Day will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, May 12th at Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. Interment will be private.
