Born May 9, 1991 in Alexandria, VA, he was the son of Guy Caldwell Chamberlain III and Louise Burchett Chamberlain. He lived in Washington, DC, Louisville, KY and Lawrenceville, GA before moving to Charlotte in 2001. Glenn attended the Metro School for special needs students in the autism program, where he graduated in 2013. He loved the water and learned to swim at the Metro School’s program at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center. He competed in the Special Olympics where he was a gold medalist in swimming. Glenn was a member of Sardis Presbyterian Church and participated in the Friends Program, a program designed for special needs children.
Glenn was full of energy and loved to walk. All those caring for Glenn knew to wear their tennis shoes, as they would be getting a work-out. Although non-verbal, he brought joy to the lives of the people around him. He was an affectionate and loving soul, with a twinkle in his eye and a big grin.
For more than ten years Glenn had been cared for by Anthony Spencer and Rick Sandidge and their families. He had a team of doctors, social workers and advocates making sure that he could lead his best life.
Glenn is survived by his parents, brother John Faulkner Chamberlain (Molly) of Charlotte, sisters Anne Caldwell Chamberlain of Westminster, CO and Burns Chamberlain Eckert (Matt) of Evergreen, CO and grandmother Marilyn Faulkner Burchett of Lebanon, TN. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Guy Caldwell Chamberlain, Jr. and Claire Stephenson Chamberlain, his maternal grandfather Glenn Bernard Burchett, and cousin Austin Hamilton Burchett of Lebanon, TN.
