Born on May 5, 1966, to Ruben Alicea Sr. and Tomasa Rivera Alicea in Bronx, NY, Jerry became a New York City Police Officer in his early twenties where he made lifelong friends and partners. He had strong ties to the 19th Precinct where Jerry was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
After Jerry retired from the NYPD, 9/11 had a profound effect on him. He was determined to serve his country in an effective capacity where he could be effective in the lives of many. His next chapter was serving his country as a Federal Air Marshal. He took immense pride in traveling the world while protecting everyone.
Jerry was a protector, father, husband, brother, and a friend to all. He had such empathy and wanted to help everyone he met.
As a gifted and talented writer, he has a novel just waiting to be read. As a powerhouse and protector, Jerry fought his way through injuries and setbacks with pure strength and determination. Jerry was thrilled to be made an Abuelo with the birth of his first grandchild, Rose.
Jerry is survived by his adoring wife Nina, loving daughters Caitlyn, Megan, Rayna and Hannah and treasured siblings Ruben, Elizabeth, Maria, Angela, and Grisell.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 11 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church located at 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway in Charlotte. The family will greet friends in the chapel starting at 10 am.
