Charlotte - Lafayette Deitz, known to friends as “L.G.,” passed away on January 20, 2020. A native of Charlotte, NC, L.G. graduated from Central High School. At the age of 18, he joined the Army and served in General Patton’s Third Army.
He worked at Carolina Uniform Rental for 35 years. L.G. loved woodworking, gunsmithing and model aviation. He never met a stranger and loved to tell stories of his life's adventures.
He is survived by his grandson, Dan Criss of Charlotte, wife Sarah; granddaughter, Jennifer Swift of Durham, husband Caesar; beloved great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kaitlyn; and devoted friend, Kimberly Ruel.
L.G. was predeceased by his wife, Patsy W. Deitz; son, Daniel W. Deitz; brother, Barney Jerome Deitz; father, Gaither L. Deitz, Sr.; and mother, Chlorateen.
A celebration of LG's life will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, Mausoleum Chapel, on January 24th at 2:00 pm.
