Born May 31, 1959 in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of Joseph and Louise Evans. Following graduation from Benjamin Franklin High School, Rochester, NY, Gail furthered her education at Hobart William Smith, Nazareth University, where she received her Bachelor of Applied Science. She continued on receiving her Master's Degree at the University of Rochester.
In 1980, Gail Evans was a student at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, putting herself through school as a custodian at Eastman Kodak. Almost two decades later, in 1999, Gail was still at Eastman Kodak, but in a very different role---she had just been name Chief Technology Officer.
After leaving Eastman Kodak as the company CIO of consumer products, Gail served Executive stints with Bank of America, HP and Microsoft. In January 2016 she was named CIO at Mercer, a consulting firm focused on talent, health, retirement and investments. At Mercer, Gail led the company’s technology, strategy, transformation and innovation.
Leaving Mercer, she started her journey with Disney in 2022 as Executive Vice President, Chief Digital and Technology officer. (CDTO). Gail led a global multi-disciplinary team of digital, technology, product, data, and operation professionals focused on development, and implementation of Digital and technology strategies for Disney Experiences Businesses around the world.
Gail Evans was a remarkable woman who dedicated herself tirelessly to her family, to her work and striving to make a positive impact in the world. Gail cherished every moment with her family, enjoying life’s little pleasures, from bottomless mimosas to scouring the internet looking for new tech gadgets that piqued her interest. Her heart was happiest during long morning walks on the beach with Pam, the love of her life, or relaxing by the pool with her grandson, RJ. She truly embodied a spirit of warmth, joy, and purpose, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever!
Gail was called to rest on October 29, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Louise Evans, and her sister, (Linda E Strong). She leaves to cherish her memory her spouse, (Pam Johnson Evans); sons, (Ronald and Randi Johnson); grandson, (Ronald Johnson 3rd); three godchildren, (Kairon Simpson, Jaedah Hill, Arianna Proctor); two sisters, (Pamela Montgomery, Tracey Myricks); two brothers, (Tyrone and Bernard Evans); and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Gail will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at McEwen Funeral Service Inc., 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
