Dad was an amazing father, husband, grandfather, father –in-law, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and friend to so many, passed away on May 12, 2017. He was born in Orange, Vermont on July 21, 1926 and grew up in Barre, Vermont . Dad graduated from Windsor High School in 1944 and throughout his teen years worked at various jobs in support of his family. After high school, he attended Becker College in pursuit of an accounting degree and while serving as president of his fraternity, earned his degree in 1947. Shortly after college graduation, Dad was hired as an accountant by General Electric and subsidiaries until his retirement. He was also honored to be President of the Bridgeport, CT chapter of the National Association of Accountants. Dad’s retirement lasted all of 6 months and then he pursued a career in real estate earning his license soon thereafter.
Dad and Mom married June 1954 and as he repeatedly told us his greatest joy, after his marriage was when they adopted Brad in 1960 and a Alison in 1962. Both were the best parents, devoted throughout their lives to each as well as their children.
Dad’s passions beyond his family was his love of music which included singing in church choir’s, playing the piano and trombone in several bands. He was a man who selfishly volunteered to causes that helped those in need including church functions, Levine Senior Center and chaperone at youth dances, as well as political and humanitarian functions.
He is survived by his son Bradford Lord and wife Cheryl, daughter Alison Lord, granddaughter Jessica Lord, brother-in-law Bob Zimmerman. His nieces Betsy Stambaugh and Pat Chandler and his nephew John Lord as well as several family members which includes numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews and several dear friends. Dad is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, the love of his life, Dorothy Zimmerman Lord and grandson /buddy Kyle Lord.
