Frank led an interesting life that was geographically and occupationally diverse. Born in New
York City, he joined the U.S. Navy when he was 17 and served in Naval Ordnance at the
Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland. While in the service, he met and married Jean
Marie Carter from Magnolia, Arkansas in New York City on June 26, 1945. Their first child,
Dwain was born in 1947. Frank and family shortly thereafter moved from Maryland to Casper,
Wyoming, where he worked in several trades, including Neon Sign making before becoming a
Pipefitter at the local Texaco Refinery.
Frank, Jean and Dwain moved to New Jersey in 1955. From 1955 to 1959, Frank and family
lived in New Jersey; Memphis, Tennessee; and Brooklyn, New York, before landing in Mystic,
Connecticut. During that time, Frank worked as a used car salesman, a Fuller Brush salesman
and became a hairstylist before returning to the pipefitter trade at Electric Boat in Groton, Conn.
While in Connecticut, Frank and Jean raised four additional children, Darrell, Laurie, Dana and
Lisa in Stonington and Ledyard. Frank retired from Electric Boat in 1978 and took up hobbies
that included collecting historic gun replicas and Jim Beam whisky bottles. In spring of 1981
Frank and Jean moved to Lake Placid, Florida where Frank continued his hobbies and became
very active again in the local Elk Lodge.
In 2016 Frank moved to Knoxville, Tennessee to be near family. He subsequently moved to
Charlotte, North Carolina in 2019, where he resided at his death.
