Evelyn was born in Deland, Florida on August 8, 1926. Before leaving the workforce to raise four children, she was a Registered Nurse, who specialized in Pediatrics. She also had a heart for Christian missions and served faithfully for many years as Director for the girls AWANA club at Northgate Chapel in Durham, NC, and held Child Evangelism Fellowship Children’s Clubs in her home and community. Throughout the years, many Christians benefited from her gift of hospitality. After returning to nursing she served as the nursing supervisor of the Assisted Living Unit at Pittsboro Christian Village where she considered it an honor to care for numerous retired ministers and missionaries. She is remembered for her hospitality and quiet, meek spirit.
Evelyn is survived by her four children: David Hall of Charlotte, Daniel Hall of Clayton, Becky Dunlap of Davidson, and Esther Osborne of Taylorsville, 3 brothers, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard William Hall, her parents and 3 siblings.
The family will greet friends and relatives in the Rea Room at Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC on July 13 at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service and burial will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC. McEwen Funeral Services, Pineville Chapel will be handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carmel Hills Care Center, 2801 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Carmel Hills for their expert and loving care during Evelyn’s last years.
