Eunice Baucom Adkins

Mrs. Eunice Olivia Baucom Adkins, 91, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016. She was born November 24, 1924 in Monroe, NC to Mary Wincy Ferguson and Henry Homer Baucom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Adkins, stepson Dennis Adkins and her brother Amon L. Baucom.

She graduated from Oakhurst High School in 1942 and did clerical work before opening Shamrock Fabric Shop.

At 42, she married the love of her life and together they raised Dennis, who she loved as her own child.

Eunice was a dedicated Christian woman, belonging to Whiting Avenue Baptist Church for 57 years and attending Newell Baptist Church her remaining years. She loved her church and Bible which she read entirely several times. She treasured her family and friends and loved dressing up, going out, and baking the best dishes at any gathering.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Myra Adkins Plott, granddaughter Tiffany Pena, great grandchildren Adam Cyr and Hannah Grace Cyr, nieces Carol Baucom Holden (Chip) and Angela Baucom Livingston (Wes), nephews Chip Baucom (Lynn) and Gary Baucom (Pat) and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Newell Baptist Church, 9115 Newell Baptist Church Road with Rev. Scott Keith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
