Eugene (Gene) Patrick Patterson, 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Atrium Hospital in Pineville, NC. He was born September 14, 1931 in New York, NY, the son of the late Eugene Patrick Patterson and Mabel Veronica Brady.
Following graduation from Cathedral Prep High School in New York City, Gene received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Joseph College in Yonkers, NY. He later completed a graduate program at the National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University.
Gene met the love of his life, Ann Marie Bond, and they married in 1963. He enjoyed a long career in banking where he directed various Trust Department activities at Key Bank in upstate New York and Indian Head Bank in Nashua, New Hampshire. After retirement, Gene and Ann Marie moved to Pawleys Island, SC where they lived for 17 years.
A life-long baseball fan, Gene loved cheering on his favorite team, the New York Yankees. In addition, he enjoyed golf, bird watching, reading, gardening, and volunteering at his church.
A lived faith was very important to Gene, and over the years he served in many capacities to help meet the needs of others. He and his wife Ann Marie partnered to lead the Prayer and Worship, Repass, and RCIA programs at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church in Pawleys Island. In addition, Gene was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, served as lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, Sacristan, and Parish Council member.
The family would like to thank Binta Miller and Dr. Edward Knish, for the care they provided for Gene during the last years of his life.
Surviving are his sons, John Patterson (Sharon) of Sierra Madre, CA and Joseph Patterson of Albany, NY; daughter, Mary Kay Connery (Rob) of Charlotte, NC; and his beloved grandsons, Drew Connery (Ann) of Greenville, SC, John Connery of Los Angeles, CA, Matthew Patterson of Mammoth Lakes, CA and Jason Patterson of Sierra Madre, CA.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-10:45 AM. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Matthews, NC.

Following Gene’s interment, the family invites you to celebrate his life at Mary Kay and Rob’s home, 3924 Huntcliff Drive, Charlotte, NC.
