Ethel Marie Goodson

Ethel Marie Goodson, 70, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully February 10, 2021. Born April 15, 1950 in New Orleans, LA, she was the daughter of Nathan and Geneva (Phillips) Brown. She married Augustus Goodson on March 8, 1997 in Charlotte.

A member of New Bethel Church of God in Christ, Ethel was part of the Mother’s Board, a mentor for new members and she served on the prison ministry with her husband, Augustus.

She enjoyed visiting nursing homes witnessing to others about the goodness of the Lord. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Yolanda Rucker, Connie West, Norman (Julia) West III and Kaloa (Larry) Boudreaux; grandchildren, Arian Mackey, Larryell (Alonquin) Fisher, Yasmeen West Pleasant, Samantha Pleasant, Byron Pleasant, Ciera Rucker, Lashe’ Boudreaux and Charles Rucker Jr.; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Mackey Wright, Karrington Rendlemen Jr., Trinity Pleasant, Serinity Pleasant, Destiny Pleasant, Ayden Fisher and Kamarah Pleasant; sisters, Sheryl (Richard) Johnson, Marion McKinnie, Kishana “Kiki” Ramee, Marilyn Pierce and Desiree Brown; brother, Kevin Brown; dear cousin, Ruby Hall; brother-in-law, Joseph Scott; former sons-in-law, Charles Rucker and Gerald Mackey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Rhonda “Gwen” Thomas, Piper Jean Brown, Nathan “Menew” Brown, Rudolph “Bobby” Thomas, Gail Brown Scott and Shawn Brown.

Funeral Service 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte. Visitation 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com.
