Esther Elaine Malcolm

Born June 25, 1928 in New York, NY, Esther was one of seven children born to Charles and Catherine Benton.

A Catholic by faith, at one time she was a member at the Cathedral of St. Patrick.

For more than 37 years she was employed as an operator for Telephone Answering Service in Charlotte.

Preceding her death were her husband, Hugh B. Malcolm, a grandchild and her six siblings.

Survivors include her children, Richard Malcolm and wife, Irma of Murrells Inlet, SC, Edward Malcolm of Wyoming, Barbara Cudar of Bradenton, FL, Bobby Malcolm and wife Linda of Jacksonville, FL, Jeanette Lewis and Brian Malcolm both of Charlotte, NC; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Services are planned for 10 am Saturday, August 29, 2015 at McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday from 9:30 am to 10 am at the funeral home.

The burial will take place immediately following in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
