Mint Hill, North Carolina - Elizabeth "Lib" Richardson, age 97, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024, in Mint Hill, North Carolina. She was born on April 24, 1926, in Mint Hill, North Carolina, to the late Silas and Bessie Long. Lib was one of twelve, all of whom awaited her in Heaven.
Elizabeth, also known as Lib, was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two children, Tim Richardson (Belinda) and Myra Richardson Chandler (Chas). Elizabeth took great joy in helping to raise her three grandchildren, Devon Chandler Newton (Sean), Dana Chandler Williams (Kevin), and Daniel Richardson. She adored her four great-grandchildren, Lochlan and Tessa Newton, and Rowan and Chandler Williams. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Lib attended and graduated from Bain School in Mint Hill. She was a devoted member of the Truelight Church of Mint Hill during her upbringing and later raised her children in the Newell Presbyterian Church.
She met and married the love of her life, Paschal, “Pat” Richardson in 1946. Lib was by Pat’s side for more than 56 years until he passed away in 2002. Lib remained devoted to Pat all the days of her life. The family finds comfort in knowing Lib and Pat are together again.
In her free time, Lib was an active member of her church and belonged to a group of older parishioners called "The ForgetMeNots." She was always ready to offer help to her friends and neighbors, with a sweet smile for everyone she met. Lib and Pat took great pleasure in supporting Tim in his athletic activities in school and later enjoyed being involved in the activities of their three grandchildren. Lib and Pat also enjoyed shag dancing and listening to Patsy Cline. They dedicated themselves to maintaining a bountiful garden each year, canning vegetables for the winter. Lib was known for her wonderful cooking, including fresh biscuits every day and a weekly pound cake, Pat's favorite. Her true joy in life was caring for her grandchildren, who knew her as Maw Maw.
Elizabeth's kind spirit and loving nature will be cherished by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever be remembered. The family sends our sincere thanks to the caring members of Hospice who lovingly supported for her the last year of her life. You were all so sweet to her and always made her smile.
The family would also like to thank the management and staff at Farmwood Senior Living for the unwavering care, devotion, and love they all showed to Lib. She was "the grandmother of the house,” and they made her final years peaceful and content.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to Hospice (https://www.viagiving.org/donating).
