Charlotte - We lift our hearts in gratitude and joy that Beth was ours; our daughter, our sister, our aunt, our friend, our miracle. She passed away from cancer peacefully, at home, surrounded by family, and resolute in her faith.
Beth leaves behind her mother and stepfather, Janet and Frank Arthur; her brother, Michael (Laura) Livingston; sister, Susan (Tommy) Shinn; brother, Matthew Livingston; three step-sisters; one step-brother; eight nephews; and five nieces. She was predeceased by her father, Thomas Livingston.
Beth was everyone’s greatest fan; those that loved her could do no wrong in her eyes. Although she didn’t have children of her own, to all her nieces and nephews she was the quintessential eccentric aunt. Fun loving, effervescent, always ready with a hug and a scratch-off lottery ticket so they could see if they’d instantly won a fortune. The truth of it is, they all hit the lottery when the universe blessed them with her as family.
She was a teacher in the classroom and a student of life. Her longtime love of learning fueled her passion for sharing knowledge with her class and helping each student become their best self. Outside of the classroom, her natural teaching ability meant that friends and relatives alike were guided, tutored, and mentored. She also was a valued, cherished friend, a hiker, a gardener, a pet lover, and poet.
The Mustard Seed group was a huge part of her spiritual life. This small group—part of Sardis Presbyterian Church—meets for fellowship, Bible study, prayer and service. Their friendship, guidance, and support nurtured Beth through good times and bad.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Sardis Presbyterian Church, 6100 Sardis Rd. A reception will immediately follow at 501 Nottingham Dr.
