Elizabeth Green, 89, passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2023. She was born on Dec. 20, 1933 in Huntersville, N.C. to John and Pearl Griffin. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ron. She is also survived by two children, Ron Green Jr. (Tamera) and Edie McGlone (John) and predeceased by her son Dave (Mary).
A graduate of Central High School, she and Ron raised their family in Charlotte. She was involved in many organizations including Presbyterian Children’s Hospital, Plaza Presbyterian Church and Cedarwood Country Club. She also enjoyed her job at Ivey’s Department Store, but her greatest passion was her family. Known as “Begga” she was a wonderful grandmother to Savannah, Maddie, Dakota, Jake and Molly. Some of their fondest memories include trips to the beach, family dinners and holiday gatherings. An outstanding cook, her pecan pies, Thanksgiving dressing and macaroni and cheese and Begga McMuffins were particular favorites. Her yard was always filled with friends, flowers, hummingbirds and butterflies.
Always supportive of her husband, Ron’s, career she accompanied him to countless sporting events including Masters tournaments, Super Bowls and US Opens just to name a few. An avid sports fan herself, she was an original Carolina Panthers PSL holder and maintained her seats throughout her life.
Her husband always wrote about her in his annual Charlotte Observer Thanksgiving column, saying he was thankful for “Beth, who loves birds, dogs, music, kids and me. And almost everything else. And they love her back.”
The family will hold a private memorial service in her honor. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences may be offered at www.McEwenPinevilleChapel.com.
