Born March 14, 1962, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late DeFoy Cudd. Her mother, Ann Hoffman, survives. She was the first female student body president at Riverside High School and the angel and a soloist for the Singing Christmas Tree in Greenville. She had a lead role in the Greenville Little Theater’s production of The King and I. She graduated from Furman University. While at Furman, she was crowned Miss Greenville in 1982. She was an exceptional musician, vocally and as a pianist. She also loved playing tennis and won the South Carolina Combo Doubles Championship. She worked in Charlotte at First Union National Bank and later Wachovia for twenty years.
She met her husband, Kevin, the first day she was on the Furman campus. They became engaged two years later and have been married for 36 years. Kevin has been a lawyer for 36 years and is a senior partner at the law firm Parker Poe Adams and Bernstein, LLP. They have a 15-year-old son, Davis, who is a student at Providence Day School.
Elizabeth loved her Lord and Savior. She adored her family, including their beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Barry. Elizabeth also loved people. And people adored Elizabeth. She never met a stranger. She always expressed in word and character unwavering trust in her Savior. She freely gave her time and energy to those in need. She had a God-given ability to develop many friendships and had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel equally loved by her. She was her family’s leader and teacher. Simply put, she was the best. Her family is devastated by this unthinkable loss.
A private memorial service will be held to celebrate Elizabeth’s life at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25th at McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel. The service will be private due to COVID. Also due to COVID considerations, the family will not have a visitation directly after the service but will happily set up a time to visit at home with those who reach out to the family for a visit.
