Edith Reid Gathings passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024. She was born on November 27, 1932, daughter of Bradley Reid, Sr. and Margaret Gordon Reid.
After graduating from Kings College she spent 25 years at Platt Saco Lowell and five years with Moore Tours where she had the opportunity to travel and see many places around the globe.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Harry Edward Gathings. She is survived by her son Michael (Kane) Gathings of Charlotte, daughters Mitzi Gathings of Charlotte and Marilyn (Marty) James of Weddington along with grandchildren Morgan and Madelyn James; step grandchild Dr. Elizabeth (Mark) McKenney and two step great grandchildren Samantha and Evelyn McKenney of Edwardsville, IL.
The family will greet friends starting at noon on Monday, April 1, 2024 at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. Funeral service is scheduled for 1pm with burial immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery.
