“Ed, Jr.,” as he was called by his family, was born November 1, 1927 in Colerain, NC, to the late Edward and Lola (Pittman) Myers. Ed had lived in Charlotte since 1966 and retired from Gulf Oil Co. after 30 years of service, after which he was able to pursue his favorite hobby of woodworking.
Affectionately known to his grandchildren as “Granddaddy,” Ed is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Doris (Mozingo) Myers, his “favorite” (and only) daughter, Beth Landrum, and her husband, Michael; his “favorite” grandsons, David Michael Landrum and Joseph Edward Landrum; his dear sister Mary Rose Lassiter, her children, Brian Keith Lassiter, Rebecca Turner, and Vickie Stephenson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many treasured friends.
Most cherished by Ed was his faith. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 52 years. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 6516 Old Pineville Road in Charlotte, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16. The family will receive friends following the service.
