Mr. Taylor, age 79, of Charlotte passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Levine and Dickson Hospice House.

He was born January 3, 1932 in Matthews, North Carolina the son of the late John Reuben Taylor and Georgia Taylor Hancock. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Lucille Freeman Taylor.

Doug worked for Grinnell Company as a pipe fitter for over 32 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by all.

Surviving are his sons, Steve Douglas Taylor and Randy Douglas Taylor; grandchildren, Stephanie Taylor Oberg, Kimberly Brizendine and Steven Douglas Taylor Jr., great grandchild, Kevin Brizendine; brothers, Johnny Taylor (Charlene), Jerry Taylor (Lib), and Billy Taylor (Pat); and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at McEwen Funeral Service.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Levine and Dickson Hospice House for their care of Mr. Taylor during his illness.
