Charlotte - Mrs. Nunn, 88, died Monday, November 18, 2013 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC. She was born April 27, 1925 in Newberry, SC, daughter of the late John Thompson and Emmie Ray Thompson.
Mrs. Nunn was a graduate of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. She started her career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, receiving the Certificate of Honorable War Service from J. Edgar Hoover during World War II, and subsequently retired from Duke Energy (Mill Power Supply Company). She is a member of Azusa Caldron #102.
Mrs. Nunn is survived by her son, William Frank “Billy” Nunn of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Deborah Branon Jordan Nunn; grandsons, William Frank Nunn Jr. and wife Sarah, Robert J. Binns, Matthew T. Nunn and wife Brandi, and Jason A. Jordan; great-grandchildren, Emma, Annabelle, Saralyn, Lauralee, Katie Rose, Julianna, Fiona and William Frank III. She is also survived by her sister, Frankie Groshon of Lake Norman, NC; special nieces, Sally Thornton, Patty Flint and Michelle Lail; and numerous other nieces and nephews. We also give our heartfelt thanks to her caregiver, Donna Branon Whitley, for her love and care.
Mrs. Nunn was preceded in death, by her husband, William E. Nunn, and great-granddaughter, Savannah Mae.
A private service will be held in the mausoleum chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 5400 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC with the Reverend Jae Lee officiating.
