She was a 1948 graduate of Harding High School, a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, the United Fellowship Sunday School Class, and a former member of the Chancel Choir. She has been a circle chairperson and was awarded the Women’s Honorary Life Membership March 27, 1988. She was also a former member of McGee Presbyterian Church where she taught children’s Sunday school for many years.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was happiest when in the presence of her family (holidays, birthdays and yearly beach and mountain trips). She also loved being with her many Christian friends.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Christine) Keistler; daughters, Denise (Jim) Bright and Donna Banks as well as 6 grandchildren, Amy (Steve) Watts, Jeremy (Michelle) Keistler, Mark (Nikki) Bright, Amanda (John) Freeman, Jason (Ashley) Banks, Stacey (Darnell) McDowell and 14 wonderful great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and best friend, “Dub,” to whom she was married for 62 years; parents, James Moses and Nannie Lee Raborn; brothers, Wesley Raborn and Earl Raborn; son-in-law, Michael Banks.
For the care and kindness they gave to our Mom, a special thank you to her doctors, Dr. John Lacouture and staff, Dr. John Pasquini, Dr. Selwyn Spangenthal, Dr. William Larsen, Levine Cancer Institute, Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, and to her caregivers, Hazel Gardner and Shirley Weeks.
A family graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.
