Dorothy "Dot" Grant Curry, age 95, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021. She was born February 15, 1926 in Shelby, NC, but spent her married life in Charlotte. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her world revolved around her family and friends. She had such a strong spirit which was attributed to her strong faith in God. Dot loved gardening, sewing, reading and most of all cooking for anyone who entered her home, a true Southern Lady.
After moving to Greensboro in 2019 to Friends Homes West, a new journey began with new friends playing Bingo, doing puzzles, trivia, crafts, walking to visit with others and of course sitting on the porch as she would say, exercising her mouth.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Vicky Dawson (Rackley); her sister Barbara Lail (Earl), her brother Randy Grant (Jane) and her brother Billy Grant; her granddaughter Jennifer Curry, her grandson Adam Dawson (Kate) and her grandson Chris Honeycutt (Diana).and 5 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband James Frankin Curry; her son Mike Curry; her grandson Scott Curry.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Gethsemane Cemetery, 1504 Sugar Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262.
