Mrs. Shouse was born July 5, 1924 in Hillsboro, N. C. She was the daughter of Ellis L. Stutts and Mincie B. Stutts. Her residence in Charlotte, N. C. began in 1927 where she has lived ever since. She received her education at Thomasboro Elementary School, Villa Heights Junior High, and Charlotte Technical High School. She graduated with the class of 1943. Her life was spent working for Southern Bell T & T, Duke Power Co. and then retiring after 25 years of service with Mecklenburg County Government.
Mrs. Shouse has been a member of First Alliance (Christian and Missionary) Church for 40 years she fervently embraced her Christian faith, her family and many friends. She loved her grandchildren equally, each one for their unique qualities.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Edward Henry Shouse, Jr. three brothers, Wallace D. Stutts, Glen W. Stutts, and Robert E. Stutts.
She is survived by her son, Edward L. Shouse, Sr. and daughter, Denise Beasley (along) with her grandchildren Edward L. Shouse, Jr., Hilary Shouse Dobbins, Alan Beasley and her brother, Herman B. Stutts. She is also blessed with one great grandchild, Vance Dobbins.
Visitation will take place on Friday, April 21st from 2-3pm at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. Graveside service will be held at 3:30 at Evergreen City Cemetery located at 4426 Central Avenue in Charlotte.
