Mrs. Mock was the daughter of the late Luke Johnson Edwards and Annie Blanche Edwards. Mrs. Mock was a native Charlottean and was a graduate of Paw Creek High School and Carolina Business College. She worked as a secretary for the United Way and Traveler’s Insurance. In later years she worked with her husband in his business of Gardner and Benoit Food Service Equipment, Inc.
Mrs. Mock served as organist at Homestead United Methodist Church. She later became a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church where she served as organist. She also served as President of the United Methodist Women and received a Life Membership Award. Mrs. Mock joined Providence United Methodist Church where she served as pianist for the Chipley Bible Class.
Survivors include daughter Leslie Mock Schwamberger (Jay), son Jack W. Mock Jr. (Yvonne), grandsons Jason (Cody), Brian and Patrick Schwamberger and Jack W. Mock III. Sister Lillie Padgette of Charleston SC, and brother Lindsey Edwards (Kathleen) of West Palm Beach FL.
She was predeceased by brothers Vernon E. Edwards, Luke Johnson Edwards Jr., and sisters Blannie Cline and Carlene Coggins.
The family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care of the Charlotte Region and the wonderful staff of Waltonwoods Providence Senior Living Center for the loving care shown to Mrs. Mock. You are truly angels to us.
A celebration of Mrs. Mock’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 19 at Providence United Methodist Church with visitation to follow after the service.
