

Doris Andrews Johnson, of Charlotte, was born to Lillie and Jasper Andrews in Charlotte, NC, February 24, 1923, the baby of three red headed sisters. She worked for a major bank in North Carolina right out of high school, and met her husband to be, Raymond Johnson, when he came to repair the IBM machine she was working on. They were married during WWII and lived in Winston Salem, NC, where Ray served in the statistics department of the Army Air Corp. Their only son, Ray Jr., was born in Winston Salem, NC but they set up their home in Charlotte as soon as the war was over. Doris lived most all her life in Charlotte and was a Charter member of Midwood Baptist Church (Originally Ninth Ave. Baptist Church). She and her husband of 63 years enjoyed camping and traveling around the country in their Air Stream after Ray retired. Doris enjoyed showing her creative side in sewing, decorating, painting, and cooking. Doris is survived by her son, Ray Jr. and Sandra his wife, who live in Blue Ridge, GA., three grandchildren (Christy Upton of Easley SC, Cathy Lozito of Ala., and Carrie Johnson of Blue Ridge, GA.,) and seven great grandchildren, (Drew, Noah, and Micah Upton.; and Gabby, Bella, Nick, and Matteo Lozito.) After medical problems Doris and Ray moved in with their son in Blue Ridge, GA. A year later they moved into Cameron Hall Assisted living facility in Ellijay. After Ray passed away Doris move to Cameron Hall of Canton where she lived until her death on February 13th of this year. Services will be led by Dr. Garry Baldwin, at 4:00 PM, on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 with family receiving friends one hour before the service. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
