Mr. Donald Ray Martin

Donald R. Martin, 67 of Gaffney, SC passed into eternal rest on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Wilmington, NC on October 19, 1951 to the late Leo Morgan and Mable Cox Martin. The family moved to Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Harding High School and attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte where he developed his love of theater and performing Arts. He subsequently moved to Alexandria, VA where he worked for the next 33 years for the John F. Kennedy Center as a ticket sales manager. His theater experience included acting and directing in over 100 community and professional productions.

He is survived by his spouse of 43 years, Robert Hook of Gaffney, SC, his sisters Mary Louise (Susie) Lowe of Stanley, NC, Joan Martin of Charlotte, NC and brother-in-law John James Stewart of Clover, SC. He was predeceased by his sister Lillie Ann Martin Stewart. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Dr., Charlotte, NC 28208 Visitation at 1:30 pm with service at 2:00 pm and burial immediately following
