Donald Ray Laney

Mr. Laney, age 74, passed away on July 15, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital Charlotte, NC. He was born on January 23, 1938, in Mecklenburg County, NC to James Rexford Laney and Lola Mae Keziah. He grew up in Union County, and graduated from Indian Trail High School. He served for 9 years in NC Air National Guard. Donald worked as a Plant Manager at Jordan Business Forms, Precision Business Forms, Mini Data Forms, and Apperson Business Forms. He enjoyed drag racing and was an avid drag racer in the 60s. Mr. Laney was a member of the East Gate Lodge #692 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, Valley of Charlotte, and Oasis Temple of the Shrine. A service to celebrate the life of Donald Ray Laney will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday July 17, 2012 from the graveside at Sharon Memorial Park, with the Reverend John DeBell of East Baptist Church officiating. The Laney Family will greet friends Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Mr. Laney was predeceased by his beloved wife Beulah in 2007. He is survived by his two sons, Steven Ray Laney and wife Carol of Sylacauga, AL, and Michael Wayne Laney of Charlotte, NC; and two grandchildren, Steven Ray Laney II and Christopher Michael Laney.
