He was born October 12, 1940 in Charlotte, NC. Son of the late Junie Edward Caudle and Kate McGinnis Caudle Tucker. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Dessie Biggers Caudle. Son Donald Edward Caudle Jr. and wife Rosa of Denver, NC. Son Jeffery Scott Caudle of Charlotte, NC. Daughter Robin Caudle Simmons and husband Daniel of Indian Trail, NC. Son Gary Wallace Caudle and wife Susan of Monroe, NC. Daughter Sharon Caudle Clarke and husband Richard of Kannapolis, NC and 18 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Brothers Michael Herbert Tucker of Las Vegas, NV and Ernest Dean Tucker and wife Kay of Charlotte, NC.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his infant daughter Tina Marie, daughter Angela Hope Thompson of Cedartown, GA, sister Joyce Caudle Callicut of Huntersville, NC, and two granddaughters Jessica Lynn and Jennifer Anne daughters of son Jeffery S. Caudle.
Donald worked 52 years in the plumbing industry, which included 10 years as owner and operator of Queen City Plumbing and Piping Inc. He spent the last 13 years of his work career as a valued employee of the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority in the engineering department of the Charlotte Convention Center, from where he retired in April of 2008.
As a hobby, he enjoyed shopping at the flea markets, and antique malls. He collected antique mechanical and carpentry tools. He also collected guns and enjoyed target shooting as a weekend past time.
Mr. Caudle was a member at New Hope Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd Charlotte, NC from 7:00p.m. -9:00p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. The memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 2:00p.m. at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel.
