Diane Porter Christenbury

Diane Porter Christenbury, age 77, formerly of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Born July 27, 1946 in Charlotte, she was the daughter of Robert H. and Bernice (Gaddy) Porter. She was married to the love of her life, Robert "Robby" Christenbury, for 34 years.

She retired from UNC Charlotte Registrar's Office after numerous years of employment. Diane loved the Lord with all of her heart and served him as a loyal member of Mountain Island Church of Christ (formerly Westside Church of Christ) for over 50 years.

After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her dear friends and family, especially her great-granddaughter, Charlotte, who could always bring a smile to her face. She loved serving with Christian friends at Sisters in Service, spending time at the Senior Center, playing cards, line dancing and attending exercise classes.

A wonderful wife, mother and Nana who was greatly loved and will be missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Angie (Rick) Burgin and Teresa Christenbury; granddaughters, Tiffany Burgin Zare and Brooke Christenbury; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Zare; brother, Robert "Robbie" Porter; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, Bobby, Peggy, Ken and Paul.

A visitation for Diane will be held Monday, November 6, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Crem Srv, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mountain Island Church of Christ, 4205 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, Charlotte, NC 28216.
