Deborah Sheryl Smith

Deborah Sheryl Smith (Debbie), 69, passed away on October 30, 2024, at Astoria Rehabilitation Center in Winter Park, Florida. Debbie was born on December 22, 1954, in Charlotte, NC. She is predeceased by her parents, G. Bernard Smith and Shirley Savage Smith. She is survived by her dear brother, Grady F. Smith (Patti), a nephew Frank Whitman Smith, and several cousins.

A graduate of Charlotte Country Day School, she went on to college at Converse College and Florida State University. Debbie earned her master’s degree in social work at Florida State. After graduation, she moved to Lakeland Florida and pursued her career as an advocate for children and women in crisis.

Debbi had the heart of a servant. She was always available to help her family and friends when she was needed. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Lakeland Florida.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, November 13th beginning at 11 am, at McEwen Charlotte Chapel, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28214. A funeral service will be held at 12pm followed by the Burial at Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to The American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
